Charred kale with citrus and green tahini is a delicious and healthy dish that packs a punch of flavor. The slightly charred kale leaves provide a smoky and crispy texture, while the tangy citrus juice adds brightness to the dish. The star of the show, however, is the green tahini sauce made with tahini paste, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, parsley, cilantro, and salt. This creamy sauce perfectly complements the bitterness of the kale and adds a nutty flavor to the mix. Charred kale with citrus and green tahini is an easy-to-make dish that can be served as a side or main course for any mealtime.
Ingredients
Handful of fresh parsley and cilantro leaves, chopped
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 tbsp olive oil
1/4 cup tahini paste
1 bunch of kale, stems removed and leaves torn into bite-sized pieces
1 garlic clove, minced
2 tbsp olive oil
Citrus fruit (orange or grapefruit), juiced
Juice of 1 lemon
Directions
- Start by preparing your kale leaves by removing the stems and tearing them into bite-sized pieces.
- Heat up a skillet over medium-high heat with some olive oil.
- Once the skillet is hot enough, add the kale leaves and cook them until they become slightly charred on both sides (about 2-3 minutes per side).
- While the kale is cooking, mix together your green tahini sauce ingredients (tahini paste, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, parsley, cilantro, salt) in a blender or food processor until smooth.
- Once the kale is done cooking, remove it from the skillet and transfer it onto a serving plate.
- Drizzle your green tahini sauce over the top of the kale leaves along with some freshly squeezed citrus juice (orange or grapefruit work well).
- Serve hot or at room temperature.
